Zhuzuan

Zhuzuan, totaling more than 3000 m2 in area, was built to memorize the founder of Zen sect who had faced the wall to seek right methods and attained the righteousness. The temple was included into the 4th groups of national key relics and protection articles on November 20 of 1996. On the central axis stand the major buildings including the gate, Qianfuge and Dadian. Dadian is the oldest and most valuable existing wood structure architecture in Henan province, having high significance in architecture. Dadian was built in 1225 A.D. and rehabilitated several times, but the main components were original ones built in Northern Song Dynasty. The beam structure, bracket percentage and construction methods are typical representation of beautiful wood structure and elegant craftsmanship of Song Dynasty, which corresponds to records of Yingzaofashi (Construction methods), an important works on construction in Song Dynasty. In addition, its stone sculptures and wood structures are only examples of its kind in the world, providing concrete proof for wood structure construction methods explained in Yingzaofashi (Construction methods).
